On Sunday the 5th May at Tryon Oval, Lindfield the first of two trials was held for the 2019 Sydney U18 REP team. This was an open trial to all comers (that are Under 18) that are currently registered and playing in either SJRU Opens, SRU Colts or NSW Suburban Colts. And this represents the first step in the Rep pathway for these boys on there way to a NSWJRU U18s > GEN BLUE Academy > GEN BLUE Team > Australian Schools & U18s teams.

We saw an amazing display of rugby skills on show from about 70-80 of club rugby's finest under 18 players. The coaching crew of Mark (Space) Houston, Brett (Pickles) Fawcett and Mark (Rechers) Rechner brought together a team of roughly a dozen selectors to whittle down these numbers to a squad of around 40 players that will be invited to week 2. The selectors had specific positions to focus on and all players were given ample time in there preferred position to push for selection.

The squad for next weeks 2nd trial has now been announced. Congratulations to those selected.

The Pathway to the ultimate "Australian Schools & U18s" team has changed this year to be fully inclusive of both Schools and Club rugby players. For players in NSW the initial aim is to make it to the GEN BLUE ACADEMY and this can be done via both Schools and Clubs.
